Residential Plumbing Services Needed for Goose Island Home
A residential homeowner in Goose Island, Chicago experienced a burst pipe late in the evening. The customer had turned off the water to their entire building to prevent any more water damage. Our plumber thought the leak was coming from the upstairs bathroom but discovered a different source.
Plumbing Repairs Needed for Bedroom Leak
Our plumber was sent to the home after hours and arrived to find water leaking into a bedroom. Because there was a bathroom above the bedroom, our plumber believed the leak came from that water supply. If left unresolved, water leaks can cause significant damage to your property and possessions, including structural damage, mold growth, and other health hazards.
Freezing Temperatures Cause Burst Pipe
To find the source of the leak, our plumber exposed all the bathroom plumbing by removing the drywall. Then they quickly turned on and off the water in the home. Plumbers do this to pinpoint the leak; if the water meter runs while the water is off, then the leak is outside the house’s plumbing system. Seeing no leak in the bathroom plumbing, the plumber was able to determine that the water was coming from the exterior water hose faucet line. It was found that the burst was caused by frozen pipes due to the freezing outside temperatures.
