Sewer Line Repair in Lincoln Square
Rescue Plumbing has repaired sewers across the Chicagoland area! Our plumbers often go into crawl spaces, excavate buried lines, and work hard to get customers’ sewers up and running! In Lincoln Square, we helped new homeowners get free-flowing drains again.
Relieving the Blockage
Upon arrival at the site in Lincoln Square, our plumber used a power rodder, a high-powered drain cleaning machine, to try to relieve the blockage. This is the first step in removing any blockage. Unfortunately, this did not repair the plumbing issue.
Locating the Problem
A sewer camera inspection was then conducted to find the location of the problem.
By conducting a camera inspection we discovered a previous repair had shifted the sewer pipe in a way that placed a strain on the section of pipe connected to city sewers.
Sewer Line Replacement
Our plumbers excavated the front lawn of the house down to the sewer pipe where the location of the problem was identified. This would make the pipe accessible for repair.
Our plumber proceeded to cut out the damaged section of sewer piping that was strained. Then installed new pipes, and patched up seams with mortar.
The plumber made sure the new piping was positioned in a way that was not strained.
In performing these services the sewer operated in good condition allowing flow into the city’s main sewer system with ease.
After passing a Chicago plumbing inspection in Lincoln Square, we perform a second camera inspection to double-check the condition of the sewer.
We always make sure that your Chicago home’s sewer is flowing properly before we complete a job!
What is Sewer Line Repair?
A sewer repair is a process in which empty, clogged, or damaged sewer pipes are fixed. These lines are typically inspected with a video camera to first identify any potential causes of blockages or clogs as well as determine the location of the problem.
Sewer Line Repair Process
These repairs might involve patching up the pipe’s cracked or broken seams with a cement substance called mortar.
In some cases, the sewer pipe may not be easily patched up. Therefore, the lines might also be repaired by requiring the removal of the damaged sewer pipe and the installation of a new sewer pipe.
Be cautious, sewers are normally too deep for a homeowner to repair and should not be attempted without licensed professional plumbers.
What Damages a Sewer Line?
A sewer line can be damaged by a lot of different things. Some of these can be prevented while other types of damage are unavoidable. The best thing to do is understand your sewer and keep an eye out for any signs of damage before it gets bad!
Damage to the line can be caused by tree roots entering and damaging the pipe from below.
Over time the roots will block the sewer line leading to sewage backup. These roots are so strong sometimes that they can strain the pipe to the point of sewer line breakage.
Improper installation of pipes is another issue this homeowner faced in Lincoln Square.
Sewer piping needs to be laid out properly in order for the sewage flow to be undisturbed.
Lack of Maintenance
Poor maintenance is a common cause for the need for repair. Be cautious of how you dispose of waste in your drains.
Materials like grease can build up over time creating blockages in the sewer line. External forces like construction projects that disturb a home’s infrastructure are also a cause of the need for pipe repairs.
